EDITING SLIDESHOW TO AUDIO Options

[font=Book Antiqua][size=7]I am new to this so please have patience. I am attempting to find out if it is possible to adjust a portion of my slideshow to a particular audio file. Let's say I have 200 pictures. Of the 200, the first 25 I would like audio file 1 to fit. The next 50 would fit for audio file 2. And the next 25 would fit for audio file 3. Is this possible?

Are you meaning you want the first section of the slideshow to last as long as your first piece of audio or you want it set the picture duration and then adjust the audio to fit?

This is how I have done it in the past:


I had 3 sets of pictures that I wanted 3 separate songs, one song to match set one, 1 song to match set 2, and 1 song to match set 3. I also wanted all 3 of these sets to be one production. So, in VideoWave, I dragged the first set of pictures from the Media Selector Window, down to Storyline.

To drag all of the pictures at once, I clicked on the first picture, then pressed down the Shift Key, and while holding it down, I clicked on the last picture. This selected all of the pictures at once. (You can also click on the icon to the right of the folder with the arrow pointing up. This selects all of the pictures, also.)

In Media Selector, I then browsed to the song that I wanted for that set of photos and dragged it down to the last picture in the group below. I then clicked on Fit to Audio, previewed the entire production, then saved it as something like Part A. I then closed that production and repeated the steps for the other two, naming them Part B and Part C.

I then closed VideoWave and opened DVD Builder. I selected DVD as the project type. Next, I clicked on Add New Title and browsed for the Part A, selected it, and clicked on Add. I did the same for the other two. I then burned to an ISO file and burned it to a DVD using Disc Copier.

In DVD Builder, under the burn options, I deselected Burn to DVD and selected Burn to image file. I also made sure that in the drop down box, I selected Play next title.

There is at least one other way to do what you want to do, but I found this one to be the easiest. Each of the sets of pictures had the song play for entire length of that set.

I have encountered the same type of situation in many of the Videowave productions I have made. There are as you can see several ways of doing what you want. And I have a way of doing what you want all in one operation.

I place the first set of photos that I will use for the first audio file in the production. Then I look to see just exactly how long, time wise the first audio file is. If the first audio file is say 3 minutes, 20 seconds long (200 seconds) and I have say 40 photos in that first set that I want that audio file to fit, I just do a little bit of simple math and divide 200 seconds by 40 photos which would make each photo 5 seconds long. Set those 40 slides to 5 seconds. Now do the exact same thing with all the other sets of photos and audio files.

Certainly there are other ways of editing your audio file to make it a certain length of time and you can fade it in and fade it out but what you are wanting to accomplish can be done one way or another.

On the other hand, I think like you are thinking that it would be nice if some of these post questions were answered to not only let us know what happened but also the many others that might want to accomplish the same task, that would benefit from a reply post.

But it does make one a little frustrated that's for sure.

You are correct. A post letting us know whether or not it worked, will help others who have the same question somewhere down the line. Of course, it also helps if a new poster uses the search function. They will usually find the answer in a thread like this, if the OP in the thread comes back and gives the results of trying an offered solution. It only makes sense.
