I have a Panasonic VDR-310 camcorder. The camcorder itself works just fine but the Panasonic DVD-Studio software stinks.
Here's my problem. I use DVD-RAM and double-sided RW. The DVD-RAM defaults to record in VR format and I can set the RW discs either to VR or VIDEO format. I always video record in 16:9 aspect.
The Panasonic software is needed to import the VR format (DVD_RTAV folder) regardless of disc type. Their software allows you to EXPORT to an MPEG-2 video files but it exports in 4:3 mode regardless if the original video was 16:9!!! No, this isn't a operator mistake, it's in their documentation, all exported video is 4:3.
I tried Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 and there is a great tool called Interpret Footage which allows me to change the aspect ratio from 4:3 back to 16:9 without video loss.
I own EMC8 but it doesn't import VR format disc so that is why I am looking at other options including a new software package. I would like to stick with EMC as the tools are fabulous!!!!
How in the world can I accomplish this in EMC9.0?
Changing the Production or Project setting to widescreen doesn't work.
HOW DO YOU CHANGE ASPECT RATIO?
