I've just installed Easy Media Creator 10 because I want to make videos. So where is Videowave? huh.gif sad.gif

I've been all over the Net trying to sort this out, but I just don't understand why all the sites and tutorials discuss Videowave, but I don't seem to have it...

When I click on Video in the Project Pane, just get links to Video Guide and CinePlayer (underscored as links), but Video Guide doesn't open anything. angry.gif

Any ideas?

Thanks,

John.

P.S. These are the two installation packages I have used,as purchased & downloaded:-

RoxioEasyMediaCreator10[1].1_FA80AA50R13.exe
RoxioEMC10ContentCD_3833BA50SQA.exe

While you don't need it, the second file you show is the Content file which needs to be installed after the first file and a reboot. It contains themes and many of the extras that can be used in the programs in the Suite.

Roxio causes problems, pure and simple. I have just tried to install Easy Media Creator 10 ('cos I really need to make some videos), after years of avoiding Roxio products because of the mess they cause. Now the install hasn't worked properly. Here we go again...

Thank you both for your input. myguggi, this is the view I get when I click on Video: http://www.songland.com/images/EMC10_no_Videowave.jpg

Beerman, I installed exactly as you described it, though I may not have done the reboot right at the end - if it doesn't ask, I don't reboot. I will next time. Do you think my answer is to uninstall completely, create a System Restore Point and start again? I do! wink.gif I'll do it and let you both know...

Roxio may not like my saying this, but if their installs don't cause problems, why do they need to publish this page? Clean Installation of Easy Media Creator on Windows XP: http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=38850

Thanks,

Hi John,
I'm not the biggest fan of the clean installs either and have been thru my share of them and still don't know why after 3 clean installs for v9 wouldn't work for me but the 4th did! I quit asking. However, it does help to start fresh.
I would suggest you do a clean install, then reboot and shut down all antivirus, firewall, internet security, spyware etc. programs and try the install again. We haven't talked about your computer yet so I don't know if you have the latest video drivers for your card (important) and what resolution you are viewing at. Please post your computer specs after you've checked that you have the latest firmware and let us know the screen res.

Hi Paul, and thanks again. smile.gif

My screen resolution is 1152 x 864. I'll check on the latest video drivers for my card and let you know. I'm using Win XP Pro.

I'm doing the clean install right now - I'll be back...

Thanks,

I have never had a problem installing any Roxio product since I first started fooling around with "roxio" (version 4 or something like that) so you cannot simply make statements like "Roxio causes problems, pure and simple". Generalizations like that are useless. I know lots of people have problems installing but most of them are related to incompatible hard ware, installed software, out-of date drivers and lots of other factors.

Obviously something went wrong with your install, you are even missing 2 tasks on the Home Page: "Media and Devices" and Photos. That seems to indicate that there is something on your system that was blocking the installation

You're right, myguggi, maybe I did make a rather sweeping statement, and I do accept your other points. But I was angry, and still am. I've now done a clean install, and the software tells me it was successful. Now EMC 10 won't open at all.

I'm not going to waste any more time on it today - going for a swim! biggrin.gif Maybe I'll have another try over the weekend...

Many thanks again to you & Paul,

John.

Will any of the EMC10 programs thru the Start menu open? Instead of using the Home Menu, got to Start/Programs/Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 and try opening a few programs from there. Also, do you have any other Roxio software installed on your system?

Hello John. Do you have Pinnacle Studio Installed? I just found out that when I have Pinnacle installed I can;t find the VideoWave either and also when I install Creator 10 Suite it deletes part of the Pinnacle program. I was told by Roxio that this happens and to delete Pinnacle. Ihave 1,200 of plug ins for Pinnacle so thats not a option. I'll be returning Creator 10 suite today.

Pretty unlikely… You would think after a year someone would have noticed a conflict before this???

Sounds like BS to me.

Hi, Rudico,

No, I don't have Pinnacle Studio installed, but I'm seriously considering buying it after all this!

Beerman,

No, nothing will open, either from Start/Programs/Roxio Easy Media Creator 10, from the Desktop shortcut or by clicking on the exe file itself. And, I don't have any other Roxio software installed on my system.

Question to all: My graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 - should be all right, shouldn't it? Or is it simply too old and not good enough? I'll accept that if it is, which I think it may be. I do know that it's not good enough for Vista (don't care) or for Second Life...

I had a good swim! wink.gif

Off for tonight...

Thanks,

John.

I don't think that graphics card will work: it has only 64MB of memory and is only good to version 8.1 of DirectX. It came out in 2002 so its "very" old

Just to add to what Walt has said..... if you don't have a video card that meets the program's specifications the program won't install properly.

System requirements are here: http://kb.roxio.com/content//kb/Creator/000159CR

And frankly, most of the newer programs are going to have higher video card/ graphics/ system requirements than those that were sold on computers in the past.... or on some of the current less expensive computers. I have a couple of video editing programs and neither works on my older computer or my laptop.

If you downloaded the program from Roxio, I think you have a 30 day money back guarantee if you don't think it worthwhile to upgrade your computer.... although I thought they stopped sellling it over 30 days ago.

It seems that my card is not up to requirements then. OK. Swift 3D Version 5.00, which I have installed, is a very modern program, and it works fine. But there we are... I guess that the Roxio's requirements are too high on this occasion...

Unfortunately, I bought the EMC 10 on August 15, so it's too late to get my money back. (Unless anyone here has a 'mole' inside the firm! LOL).

Pinnacle Studio is probably out too - I'll look into that. But this is the Roxio Forum, so I won't promote other products ... nor slam off Roxio again! I promise. ;o)

Er-hum...

Indeed, indeed - that seems the way to go. I'm not planning on seriously upgrading my computer at the moment, nor on buying a new one, but your idea is good.

Heh there, good luck & keep it safe until you can use it. Consider reading this thread before making any purchase if you are planning on entering the video scene.

P.S. I have a feeling Santa or his elves will be building a laptop for my home so I'll be checking out the required specs before December. wink.gif
