I am trying to copy/burn jpg files on my HD to a DVD+R RW. I put the DVD in the drive and open Creator Classic, select the file, click on the Disc Size drop down and select DVD 4.7 GB and then select Burn. I am asked to insert a disk, but the disc is already in the drive. Apparently my Sony DVD ROM 52x/32x/52x/16x drive does not see the disc. I have no problem in reading DVDs from this drive but I have never tried to burn a DVD. I can burn CDs. What am I doing wrong.

If you have a "Sony DVD ROM" then you cannot burn to a DVD - it is a read DVD only device. You can burns CDs as you discovered.

What is the model number of your Sony device?

Maybe the model you have the CRX320EE CDRW/DVDROM Combo. In that case, it will read CD and DVD. It will burn onto CD but not on DVD.

That drive will not read DVD nor burn onto it.

Sorry Jess, the specs say it will read DVDs, it will not burn

After I realized that, I modified my response prior to seeing this last post of yours.

Thanks, Walt.

I had that drive, a little over 5 years ago. It burns CDs only. It reads CDs and DVDs.
