Is there any way to move the entire backup catalog from v5.0 (on another computer) to my new computer? Or even just print it out?

I have a zillion backup data CD's for which I really need the information about which files are on a CD. It would take days to go through each CD using the new version.

From Marlinsinger on 10/14:

I haven't ever used this, but open a restore or compare window. Make sure you have the CD you want to import into the catalog from is in your drive and you are pointed to it under the drive of the restore/compare screen. Under tools select catalog import. It should read the CD and import the info to the catalog.

JBVC replies on 10 /14:

Yes, I know I can do that, but it would take days and days. Isn't there any way at all to move the 5.0 catalog to v6.0 on another computer? Or at least print it to a text file or a printer?

By "catalog", I mean the entire group of backup titles with all included file names ever backed up on that computer. It appears in the 5.0 Restore window if you pick "Media" for the restore source.

Do you have anything in your current BUMP 6 catalog? You will not have access to them if you try this without restoring these files.
I have done this before, but not across versions.
Copy your current BUMP 6 catalog to a safe place. They are located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Backup MyPC Deluxe
Owner being your main login name.
The last part could be as listed or without the deluxe on it.
Under there is a catalogs sub-directory with another subdirectory of "primary".
Copy your BUMP 5 catalogs to this "primary" directory and see if they then show up under restore media view. No guarantee.
There is no way to just print as these files are compressed.
Other than doing the import, this is the only way I know.

There is no "BUMP 6" file or folder in my v6.0 Application Data folder, nor is there any "BUMP 5) in the corresponding 5.0 folder on the other computer.

HOWEVER. your reply got me thinking, and I took a chance on copying the "Catalogs" folder from my old v5.0 "Program Files/STOMP/Backup MyPC/System" folder on the old computer into the corresponding folder for Backup MyPC 6.0 Deluxe on the new computer ("Program Folders/Roxio/Backup MyPC Deluxe/System). (I first renamed my newer Catalogs folder to protect it. )

Lo and behold, I could read my old catalog on the new computer. So it looks like v6.0 will accept whatever folder is namaed "Catalogs". At least, from v5.0. (THough I haven't tried to restore anything from it yet.)

Now I just need to know how to expand the catalog file so I can print or search a text version. Will start a new topic for that.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Yikes! I just realized that "BUMP" is just some of the first letters from "Backup MyPc".

I get tired of keying Backup MyPC all the time. BUMP is easier.
