I'm running a Dell 8400 processor 3.4ghz
1 gig ram
250 gig hd w/75gigs available
Windows XP Home Media Addition

I'm using Roxio Creator 9 to edit and burn video and have updated my ADI Radion x300 card as requested by your software.
I have just, defragged the system and am working with on other programs running.

When I output video "A" to a file for preview my PC hangs up @ 44min-26sec-12frames and will not process any more information. It happens at the same frame if I try to burn a DVD. However I am able to pre-view the complete video in the edit screen. This video is about 1hr-12min long and the fit to DVD option has been selected. I have replaced both the transition and both segments before and after the transition. I am working with 2 original video files down loaded from a Sony camera and was able to output the files through Roxio and burn them to a disk.

The same thing happens when I try to output video "B" but a different place. This is a complete different with different original footage. The final version is less than 1 hour long and burned as a HQ video.

Any suggestion?

Would like to tell us what program you are using? There are quite a few in the Suite.

Since it does happen at the same point, it would appear something is wrong with the file at that point.

Playing a file is not a test. The acid test of any file structure is trying to edit/render it! That is where it is really paying strict attention to the 1's and 0's.

As a test, I would delete 10 seconds after that point and 10 seconds before and Burn to file. What happens then?

James- I'm using My DVD- The point @ which the system stops is @ the end/beginning of a desolve. I removed about 10 sec from the end of frame 5 and 10 from the beginning of frame 6 and also replace the desolve in between. I output the video as a generic MPEG-2, good quality to the desktop. The freeze occured this time @ 44-01-06 74%- What next?

Remove the dissolve.

If that works, pick another and try it.

Something else to look into. There is a choice of Hardware or Software encoding. This is under Tools – Options in MyDVD.

Hardware allows more of the transitions to be used but requires some pretty steep performance from your video card. There is a Graphics Test button there too. If the card passes, it automatically sets it to Hardware.

However on my PC, Hardware passes but produces problems. Not crashes but blurry video during panning movements. As a result, I set mine to Software although many of the transitions are no longer available.

If you revert to Software render, you will probably have to rebuild your project to use only the transitions that are acceptable.
