Out of curiosity, did you install Internet Explorer 7?

If so - remove that, go back to IE6 and try again

Let us know what happens

Hi, I tried your suggestion & it worked perfectly. biggrin.gif I was suprised that removing IE-7, would help to solve my problem. huh.gif EMC 7 installed normally after I removed IE-7.

I have another problem though. sad.gif I tried to update my EMC 7 software package from 7.0x to 7.1.1.189

I get the following error message:

This patch package could not be opened. Verify that this patch package exists and that you can access it,
or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

P.S., I tried to apply this patch with IE-7 removed with no luck. angry.gif

You need to download it again. I think it was a 120 MB download.

Go to the folder to which you downloaded it, and check the size. I seem to remember, from WAY back when, that folks who had a bad download, had a file size of about 89 or 90MB.

First, do you know the exact version you installed? If not sure, go into Creator Classic, VideoWave, or Disc copier, then Help -> About and post the build number it shows.

Second quesiton, is your v7 on cd's or was it a downloaded purchase?

It is Easy Media Creator 7 - version # 7.0.353.0 ENU

It is the retail boxed version, which came with the program & content CD.

This is a bit of a puzzle. You've got the retail version and the correct patch downloaded
(update70to71_2.exe)

First, disconnect from the internet and disable any firewalls, pop up blockers, and virus checking programs.
Then, do a Control Panel\ Add Remove Programs\ Roxio EMC7 \ Change\ REPAIR.
Restart the computer.
Keep your firewalls, etc. off and try to install the patch.

It should work because I just reinstalled version 7 and applied that update last month.

Try this after rebooting, first. Download and install the latest Microsoft Installer, then reboot, and try installing the patch again.

I forgot to tell you to install the Microsoft Installer, but I would believe that you did so.

I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe disable your Internet security and your virus protection. Turn off pop up blockers.

Also, get rid of any malware/spyware with the free versions of AdAware and Spybot, then defrag your hard drive.

I have tried your suggestions and they did not work. I obviously have run into this problem again, since it is about two years later.

I really hope I get some real answers . I would like this problem fixed. I'm getting tired of Roxio blaming other sofware programs.
Why doesn't Roxio make sofware programs that run seamlessly with other companies programs.

Consumers really don't care, if software companies get along. Consumers only care that that your programs run seamlesly on our computers.
Remember, we consumers have payed good money for your products. It gives us a right to compain about them, if we are not satisfied / frustrated with
the suggestions we get from support.

I really hope I get some good suggestions. I really don't want to hear the typical ones - such as have I downloaded the file and from where?, what is the
version numer of my roxio software?, what programs are currently running?, ect.

I have double and even triple checked all of the suggested solutions I have recieved and all of the obvious ones.

Their is no magic fix or patch that will get things going again.

If it has been working ok for almost 2 years something has changed in your system. Have you added any new programs, updated XP (assuming you have XP).

You say you have the "same problem again", does that mean you have re-installed again?

Looking back over the earlier post's on this thread, you never did come back and say what you did to get it going,

Remember we are just fellow users, if you are not happy with our suggestions just contact Roxio support.

And yet, if you took your 2004 car to the auto dealer, would you be surprised if some parts were no longer available? Or that parts from 2008 don't work with it?

(brings to mind Johnny Cash's song about getting his car one piece at a time - he ended up with a car that had one tail fin - and two headlights on the left and one on the right
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/johnnycash/...eceatatime.html
If you want the program to run well with other programs - they should be of the same era - just as the car in the song had problems with a '53 transmission and a '73 motor.)

If memory serves me correctly, Roxio discontinued all support for EMC 7 last year, other than these discussion Forums - and, as ogdens pointed out, you aren't talking to Roxio techs or even Roxio personnel.
