I'm transferring some old home movies from VHS to DVD, and trying to clean them up in the process. So, I recorded the movies on my DVD recorder (no video capture card on my PC), and imported the video using Media Importer, to .mpg format.
I have 3 files, 1.4GB, 1.8GB, and 1.9GB in size. The two larger ones processed fine: I was able to do auto scene detection, then clean up the scenes I didn't want on my DVD menu, then add them to the project.
The third file, however (the smallest of the 3), is a problem. When I right-cliuck on it in the media selector and try to use scene detection, Videowave crashes. It's just an "encountered an unexpected error" crash. Further, when DrWatson tries to analyze the problem, DrWatson crashes too.
The media file itself seems fine. I can play it with no problem in Windows Media Player, for example.
What can I do to diagnose this? The only other data I have is the data captured from the microsoft feedback agent, which I'll include below. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I never got any response to this post or to the support ticket I submitted. So, I ended up purchasing Nero to get this project done. While it had its own quirks, it was able to handle my video files without crashing, which is more than I can say for Roxio Videowave or Adobe's Premiere Elements. Mentioning competing products may get this post deleted, but I bet I'm not the only person who has ended up having to buy three different products from three different vendors because no single one will reliably do what I need.

The post won't get deleted, if you could not get EMC 9 to see the file. I suspect the structure was different, but that is a moot point now.
I am glad that your production completed.
