I have been a basic user of EMC 8 for about 6 months. I can easily burn dvds to back up data and create video slide shows of my edited photos and have become quite comfortable with the software. I love the ease of use and the incredible support I get from the forums.

However, there are two issues that are keeping me from fully enjoying the product. In fact, they are show stoppers and I am now shopping for better software. My two issues are as follows:

1. Transitions in Videowave cause my slide shows to burn to dvd in a pixelated fashion. That is to say, the transition does not appear to burn properly so they do not complete. When I remove transitions all together, the pictures blink. It is slight, but you can notice it. It looks like your picture is a subtle marquee sign.

2. Sound. No matter what I do, the sound does not sync with my video (which is usually a slide show created in Videowave. The finished production always is out of sync by at least 30 seconds.

I have tried everything and have used the EMC 8 DVD forum alot and everyone has been very kind and very helpful but to no avail

My questions for this forum are:

1. Concerning the above issues, has anyone had these problems in V9 and are they fixable?

2. Does v9 support MPEG-4?

Essentially, given my plight, should I upgrade to v9?

Answer to 1) Since you did not provide any computer information or information on when you experience the problems. it is impossible to give a definitive answer. The problems you are experiencing are fixable but if you have the problems in V8, you will probably have them in V9.
Answer to 2) Yes

Essentially, no. Not until you get the problems fixed with V8.

Post your computer specs. You should not be having problems with audio sync in slide shows. Some people see some artifacts in video but most of that can be cured.

EMC 9 encoding is much better than EMC 8. There are many of us who would not use EMC 8 for video productions, because we were getting lousy output of our productions. That WAS NOT the case for many others, though.

As far as the audio/video sync problem, I don't know if EMC 9 is a cure for that problem. I never had that problem, but there are many possible fixes for it, starting with computer maintenance. Do a search of these forums, and you should get many possible solutions.

EMC 9 does support mpeg 4.

Now what would be the cause of that, some good some bad?

As I mentioned in my post, I have already been given alot of help in the EMC 8 forum so I was not looking for solutions here, since this is the wrong place to post emc 8 issues.
