Full Version: Jam 6.0.3 Text and Red Book compliance

Hello,

I have Jam 6.0.3 on a Mac G5. I can fill out all the metadata fields in a Jam burn, but when I put that CD into a CD player, only the ISRC codes shows. When I put the CD into my computer drive, iTunes or other Mac apps import it, but don't show track names, titles or anything else. Why bother to allow the names and other data to be entered if it's only visible in the Jam burn window?

Years back I was told that Jam (instead of Toast) had to be used to burn Red Book CDs for CD replication plants. I now see comments on this forum that indicate that Toast now burns Red Book CDs. I have Toast 7.1. Does it burn Red Book? Will it include the text info that Jam isn't capable of?

Not all drives can read CD-TEXT, even some burners that can burn CD-TEXT cant read CD-TEXT. That is a rather new addition to the red book standard anyway. As it stands now, you can use either Jam or Toast to burn red book CDs. Jam does have some additional options regarding the redbook standard that Toast doesnt have.

This is starting to make sense to me now. I just posted about how Jam will not (at least for me) allow the writing of both cd-text and ISRC codes. You get one or the other, and if I try to allow both, Jam will crash upon trying to write the first song.

The above poster says that when he inserts his CD in a player that displays cd-text, he sees the isrc codes instead. What does this suggest?
