I am new to Toast so apologies if this is a stupid question! But I am trying to import jpg photo files into a Toast video slideshow and the images that are in portrait format rotate into landscape format when I import them into the Toast window - I am dragging them in from Finder. The images open in portrait orientation in other programs.

Any ideas how can I keep the portrait orientation?

I haven't experienced this. Have you updated to Toast 7.1.2?

Yes, I have updated. I've tried rotating the images and then re-saving them again but they still change to landscape orientation when imported to Toast. Have also tried importing images that were downloaded from an older camera with the same results...

I'm sorry but I'm just bewildered by this. I can't recall anyone previously posting this as an issue, either. Try placing some photos in your Movies folder and using the Movies button in the Toast Media Browser to access them for import to Toast. Does this make any difference?

Thanks for the suggestion - I've tried copying a couple of portrait format photos into my movie folder and importing them via the media browser but they are still rotating to landscape. In fact they even open in the media browser in landscape orientation.

But I've also tried importing the same portrait format photos from the media browser into a Data format Toast disc and although they display as landscape format images in the media browser they actually open as portrait format images from the disc image. So the problem only seems to occur when I'm trying to make a slideshow in Video format

I did some more tests and got the same result you are experiencing. Changing to Portrait mode using Preview resulted did not change the rotation in Toast. However, saving the Portrait mode in Photoshop did change the rotation in Toast. I don't know which applications change the rotation in a way that Toast recognizes and which ones don't. Try it with the software that came with your camera or use Photoshop or Elements if you have them.

I was planning to buy Elements soon anyway so this looks like another good reason to do it now! Thanks very much for your help! I'll let you know if I have any more problems!
