I want to capture the audio only from my ATI All-in-Wonder. Thanks to myguggi I now know how to capture the video and extract the audio from the resulting file. But can I capture the audio only directly?

When I go to Media Import/Audio, it only lists my Soundblaster card as a source. Is there a way to get EMC8 to recognize the ATI Rage Theater as an audio input?

The ATI card plugs into the Line In on my Soundblaster, so I thought I might just play the TV application and record from the Soundblaster. Unfortunately, Media Import only lists "Phone Line" as an input. Can I configure it to recognize "Line In" as an input too?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to use Sound Editor and hit Record Audio and when the box pops up you should have line in or something like it in the drop down

Record Audio shows only "SoundBlaster PCI" in the Capture From: drop down list, and only "Phone Line" in the Input: drop down list.

So, no help blink.gif , but thanks for the interest, anyway rolleyes.gif !

That's strange. What SoundBlaster card do you have?Mine's an Audigy and I get lots of choices. If you go in the control panel, sound and audio devices,go to the audio tab, what does it say under sound recording?

I don't know why my signature disappeared, but I've updated it to reflect most of my hardware info.
In Control Panel, the only audio device is Creative Sound Blaster PCI, for playback, recording and MIDI.

Ok,let's try this next.It could be that you don't have any other sources enabled for recording in the mixer.Open the mixer, look in the record column and see what has a green light next to it.If the modem(or phone) is the only one try enabling other things.Restart your computer and see if the new choices show up in Roxio.

It became painfully obvious that the problem was the sound card, and nothing to do with EMC8. Yet this story has a happy ending! I decided to pull out the audio card and enable the motherboard's onboard sound. However, the jacks on the back were not labelled, so I needed the MB's manual to see which was which. I pulled out the wrong MB box, and lo and behold, there was a brand new SB Live! wub.gif inside.

I can record from the TV tuner now, but strangely, not by using the Line In. It only works if I use the "What U Hear" input, but it does work.

Problems solved. Thanks, everyone for your help.

P.S. Anyone want a sound card, really cheap?
