am converting a wmv file to a dvd. the program picked up the file, encoded it, encoded the menu, went to burn, and 25% of the way into the burning 0process Told it to burn to disc), stopped, went to 100% and gave message : failed to start the image writing operation. error while burning image.
this happened twice in a row.
i have a new homebrew (actually storebrew) win xp pro sp2 machine, with 2 lg burners. latest drivers.
had no trouble copying a disc so i know that the hardware is working.
any suggestions.

Do you have the same problem in getting it to burn to the hard drive as an image file?
Try it that way and see if it works. Also, shut down any background running apps during the process

tried buring to iso, iso burned, then would not copy to dvd.
in both cases i used dvd+r. ( 2 different brands)the lg i am using is supposedly a multi disk burner and is supposed to accept both + and -.
then i tried burning the iso image to a dvd-r and it accepted the image quite well. i am now trying the same thing burning to a dvd-r directly. will report on the results as soon as i am finished.

burns to dvd-r straight to disc fine. my lg is supposed to burn all kinds. could it be that ezcd creator9 doesn't like dvd+r?

Sounds like your drive doesn't like some of the +R brands you used. Check on the drive mfgr website for a firmware upgrade. That usually helps solve those types of problems.

First of all, they were lite on drive, not lg drives.
went to lite on, downloaded and installed new firmware. everything seems to be fine.
thanks, larry

I also have a lite on drive and am having that same problem I can burn -r but not +r in DVD express. I have to use express because I am unable to burn either in MyDVD9. I went to IO Magic and looked for new driver but they didn't have one so am interested in how to fix my problem. Also am wondering if my problem in MyDVD9 is related to this or if I just have to wait for some kind of patch. I have a second DL burner which is also a lite scribe and +r will not burn in it either. This is only a problem in MC as both burn +r in other programs . Any suggestions or website directions would be helpful as I have alot of +r discs. Thanks Jeanne

For the Lite-on drive, try here:
http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option...&Itemid=153Not knowing what the other drive is, I can't help but it's the drive firmware which tells the program what media it can handle and at what speed
