Ive used Photsuite many times to creat postcards,announcments etc,but today i get a message "Problem occured reading file AN050F002_5p.dmsp.It was not read" i get the same message excpet for the file number for any content.I have EMC7.5,IE6,Windows XPand just created a VideoWave production and no problem.Also i can open other dmsp files when i use explorer,and roxio videowave Any suggestions??bob

Did you happen to update or add any programs to your computer lately?

See if the content is still where it belongs on your computer. Using WindowsXP\ My Computer go to C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy Media Creator 7\Content\PhotoSuite\

Then go into one of the folders... like Cards\ Birthday and try double clicking on a file. It should open PhotoSuite with the photo.

NOW BEFORE YOU DO THIS NEXT STEP, do a Windows\ Start\ Search \ All files and folders\ Advanced ( search hidden folders and subfolders ) for .png files. If you've done any editing of pictures in VideoWave, the program has saved your changes in a hidden Roxio folder as .png files. You have to move them to another folder on your desktop, because when you uninstall and reinstall, the contents of that folder are DELETED. You can move them back later if you need them.

If you continue to get the error message, you may have to do a Windows\ Control Panel\ Add Remove Programs\ Roxio\ Change\ Repair.

ML thanks(sorry i hit the reply too fast)---the file im looking for is the saved format thats in the Roxio content files---i use them for making cards,postcards et al.When i do a search for the Roxio file (which is the one i had in my note),or any other Roxio"format" files,i get the same message.So its not a png file that Ive made,its a Roxio file.I havent added any new programs,did have a java update,and not sure how to uninstall that.I tried to find the files by going thru the Roxio program content folder and dont see them there--dont know where they would normally be,there is a content folder,but its not large and i dont see any files i need. for what im doingIm wondering if somehow my Roxio content files got corrupted--how would i uninstall and re-insatll the content files--i hate to reinstall Roxio because of the png file issue you mentioned--i know where that folder is,and have copied them to another folder just in case--thanks bob

Well, obviously something wiped them out. You might want to check again for viruses, adware or malware.

Try this insert the Content CD into your CD/DVD drive. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer and find the Roxio_Content on your CD. Open Program Files\ Roxio\ Easy Media Creator 7 \ Content \ Photosuite folder. In that folder, you should see items like Albums, Blank Layout, etc.

Now open another copy of Windows Explorer or My Computer. Find your hard drive and open the folders down to C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy Media Creator 7\ Content \ Photosuite\ Be careful in doing this step, because you need to open the Content folder, then the Photosuite folder, not the other way around. You should see identical folders Albums, Blank Layouts, Cards, etc.

Delete the Content folder or the subfolders ( whichever you choose) Now you drag the Content folder ( or subfolders) from the other Windows Explorer where you have the Roxio_Content CD to the place where you just deleted the files.

Basically, you're copying the files from the Roxio_Content CD to the place where the files should be located on your hard drive.

Is that clear?


thanks pretty clear--when i compare the files from the CD with the ones on my PC,there are more folders on the CD,eg Albums.Ill try inthe AM,but can i just delete the folder called contents from the Photsuite folder on my PC,then copy the entire folder called content under Photsuite on the CD and paste it into Photsuite on my PC--i dont want to screw anything else up--bob

I believe you can, but I haven't tried it myself. It's the same principle.

Just be careful that you don't accidentally delete the wrong Contents folder.

The reason that I wanted you to open the Contents folder and see the subfolders is that there is more than one Contents folder and if you are not careful, you can end up in the wrong folder.

If for some reason, you cannot delete a folder, you can always open up a subfolder, do an Edit\ Select All and move/copy the files from the Contents CD to your hard drive. ( Occasionally, Windows won't let you delete folders on your hard drive.)

Hoorah!! it was a successful fix--wound up comparing the files in Photosuite/content,and copied the folders that were missing on my PC from the Roxio CD.Somehow, the origanls were erased from my PC--thanks for the help--bob
