Haven't used Roxio since the early days of EMC 7 when it would just up and quit every few months neccesitating a total re-install or re-format of my system. Have been using Nero since with pretty good results but have been hearing good things bout EMC 8 and 9. I am really interested in transferring my LP's to Cd and having the tracks seperated for me,(not one long WAV file) and wonder how far Roxio has come since ver.7 Has anyone had real good success in doing this? Can i try this this in the trial version?

I have tranferred many lp to cd with very good success with EMC 9
I have used Sound Editor in EMC 9 to do that and you can do a lot of corrections and get your LPs sound like better than new on CD

If you are thinking of going to V9 then you may be happy with the new V9.05 (Deluxe) that is available.It has an add on app that is called SoundSoap and it does a pretty good job of cleaning noise and other things from your transferred files.

To add to Paul's post - Sound Soap isn't with the trial version (EMC9) - it is with the DeLuxe suite along with some other 'goodies'

I like the confidence that you seem to have in this program, and converting my Lp's to Cd's is what i really want to do. Can you send me specific instructions on doing just that using EMC 9 ? especially seperating the tracks. I will probably download the "trial version" and see how it goes.

Why don't you download the trial version, see if you can get it to run, then read the help section on converting lp's to cd, then if you have problems get back on here.

1- Connect your stereo system to your comptuter (in the blue jack) RCA jack i think
2- Open Roxio and click on Home, Applications and open Sound Editor
3- In Soun Editor, click on red dot to open Record audio
4- This will open a window (Audio capture) where you will see setting like Capture from (Choose Back line), Input (Choose line 1or2) and parameters (WAV recommended) Try differents settings and look in left and right meter if you pc is receiving input from your strereo system
5-Click on record and you will see an icon Add track separator, so you can separate each tune of your Lp when it is recording
6- When recording is finished, stop recording and close Audio capture
7- This will bring you back in Sound Editor where you can also add separator (add track), clean and enhance audio (Under Tools)

PS I do not use Lp and tape assistant (less options than Sound Editor) and Easy audio capture (lack the tool Add track separator)

Roxio Easy Media Creator in a snap by Lisa Danae Dayley is very helpfull. I bought it from Amazon.com

I've converted many old LPs, but I found that recording with Easy Audio capture it was actually generating many more tracks than were on the LP. Mine are classical music (sonatas, symphonies, etc. generally only 3 to 6 tracks per LP side) and maybe I had not got the settings quite right to indicate track breaks so it generated additional ones when there were pauses in the music. But as you would want to use Sound Editor to remove crackle etc. anyway, it is easy enough to load the whole recorded LP file in there to rejoin the clips it has wrongly assigned to separate tracks. It never missed a genuine track break.
