SOLVED BY REINSTALLING>>>>>I have successfully used EMC8 in the past to do this a hundred times and just upgraded to EMC9. I have created a DVD using MyDVD9 and when I preview the project it is all fine. When I select "burn", however, I get a pop up message that says "Please Insert Valid Media". I have tried it with two different brands of DVD-R. I run Windows XP and the internal DVD RW drive that came with my Sony Vaio computer is the Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D. I confirmed that I have the latest available firmware and since it's XP the other direct from disc fix from the web site doesn't apply. I am able to copy files onto a blank DVD-R using EMC "Drag-to-disk" so the drive appears to function normally through that application.

I tried to select "save as image file" but MyDVD9 won't let me check that box, only the "burn to disc" box.

When you say that 'drag to disc works' but that MyDVD says 'invalid media' - did you format the discs before using them?

If you did - don't. Take a blank disc straight from the spindle and put it in the drive and do nothing else

I'm guessing you didn't format if you've been using 8 - it's just that I'm a bit curious

I did not format the discs (just as in EMC 8 when I did not format the discs). I tried formatting one with "Drag-to-disk" but that didn't work either.

Solved it.
Did a reinstall and it worked fine. The problem was that prior to reinstall, MyDVD only recognized CDs not DVDs or burn to file. Now I'm up and running.
