I am running Win XP Media Center Edition with all SPs on a Dell XPS M140.

I couldn't find any information in the Roxio knowledgebase. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you running Internet Explorer 7 and/or Media Player 11? If so, remove them (they cause severe problems with EMC8)

Not sure where that dll is unless it is internal to the executable. Searched my PC and could not find it. I am using BUMP 2006 (same as version 6 that comes with EMC8) and using IE7 and WMP11 with no problems. May have something to do with MC. What other backup and CD/DVD burning software do you have? I have had problems with some conflicting with BUMP, specifically Norton Save & Restore and EMC Retrospect.

I could not find nmpw0110.dll either. I have NTI BackUP Now! 3.0 which I was using before I discovered I had Roxio BackUp MyPC on my machine.

My CD/DVD software also includes: RealPlayer, QuickTime, iTunes and MusicMatch. I primarily use Windows Media Player for music/videos and Roxio EMC 8 for burning disks.

I tried reinstalling (fixing) Roxio EMC 8 but got the same problem.

More thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

I'd strongly suggest removing IE7 - that does wreck EMC8

I checked my own system btw and I can see no trace of nmpw0110 (but I am using EMC9)

Daithi, that may be easier said than done. I have found on my system that the only way I am going to be able to get rid of IE7 is to reformat and start from scratch. That is why I am hoping it is something else.


As far as the dll, I have even googled that name and come up empty. A suggestion would be to uninstall NTI 3, reinstall EMC 8 and try again. If it doesn't work, you can always reinstall NTI. I wish we could find where this is from. Make sure you have show hidden files and directories checked under folder view options. You probably do, but it doesn't hurt to check.
As far as conflict, I have had iTunes cause problems, but only on an uninstall. I have heard of Realplayer and MusicMatch causing problems with other apps, and as I don't have any of these on my machine, I can't say they would be a problem with BUMP.

Don't you have the option to roll back to IE 6 in Windows >Control Panel>Add/remove software (with show all updates checked? You should be able to select it and then remove; IE 6 will be reinstalled. Usually

I have V8 Deluxe Suite and IE 7 on my sacrificial laptop and it seems to run fine so far. No way I'm going to try WMP 11. I don't use BUMP but I have opened it with no error messages.

Have you tried opening the program from Windows> Start> Programs? Read this

As I have both IE7 and WMP11, I would be surprised if they are the problem in this case.

Problem is Marlin that IE7 and EMC is a bit like SP2 and ECD5 - some people managed to get them to work, but most didn't.

I never liked IE7 anyway - it's totally non-W3C compliant (last report I read said that round 25% of web pages wouldn't open with it). In fact a friend of mine (a professional web-designer) told me one time that all his colleagues were going to start charging a LOT extra to make sites work with it

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice above. I'm reluctant to remove IE7 as it has worked OK for me and I'm not sure of a better alternative. Given that NTI Backup Now! 3 has been working for my file level backups, I'm going to punt on BackUp My PC and just not use it. I'm thinking of getting Ghost 10 or Norton Save & Restore (which includes Ghost 10 capabilities, they say), for "cloning" my drives, in lieu of BUMP. Also, NS&R works (they claim) with Windows Media Center which I have on my laptop. Any advice/warnings on these would be welcome. Again, thanks for all of your help!

Ghost 10 is okay, Save and Restore had problems when I tried it. I would stay away from it.
