I have started to get an error message with both MyDVDExpress and MyDVD. When attempting to burn a DVD there is no drive letter is shown in the "Burn DVD" box, instead there is a few letters in a strange font or the drive appears as simply ":/". Underneath the drive description an error message appears as follows: "disk drive in use by another application". I can burn to an image or to folder without problems and then burn to DVD using the "copy image" function. I can also copy DVDs without problem. Under "Tools" the DVD drive appears as normal.

Any suggestons welcome

Most often this is caused by Drag to Disc or some other packet writing software taking control of your drive. If you have it installed you might try disabling it and then trying again.

I haven't installed D2D or any other packet writing software. Any other ideas?

Do you have MS Media Edition on your PC?

No, just plain old XP, SP2.

More information: Immediately under the error message that says "Disk Drive in use by another application", there is another line that states the capacity of the drive. From the capacity shown it's obvious that MyDVD is confusing my DVD drive with one of my hard drives. How do I get it to "point" back at the DVD drive?
