Due to issues with EMC7 and IE7,WMP11, I've upgraded to EMC9.I finally managed to create a disc image file of a project to hard disc.If I access it with DVD disc copier , I seem to be able to burn to +/- R or +RW media. If I access through Burn Disc Image from home I can't burn to +R media. The project reaches the end and keeps running, no error message. I must shut down to be able to get out. I've tried 3 types of +R and get the same result. Tried 2 brands of -R and both work. What gives??

If you managed to save an ISO file to your HD, then the best place to burn a DVD is to oipen Creator Classic and on the left side of the screen you will ses where you can import your ISO file to burn.

Not sure why you can't burn to either a dash R or +R media. Check the disc and devise manager in the EMC program and see if it recognizes your DVD drive.

Don't know why the Home app won't work for you either, but most of us here would recommend using either Disc Copier or the Creator Classic method anyway, as Frank noted.

I'll do what works .This is quite the learning experience.I've had sales people tell me the brand of media is the problem. I can't believe that there can be that much of an issue with who the manufacturer is.

Believe me, there is. Don't use Memorex media. It is hit or miss as to whether a disc is good. Try Verbatim or Tayo Yuden (sp?).

Yup, they are not all created equal. Some are poor quality and not very compatible. I recommend Verbatim also for ones easily found locally.
BTW I think it's actually Taiyo Yuden in case you want to google for them.

"TYs" you will probably have to buy online. Verbatim are very good and can be found locally. I get good burns with Maxell...........go figure. Anything "MIJ" (made in Japan) will be good.

Yes, there is definately an issue with the quality of the medium one might use. You will find several factors in the media type category. Two of the most prominent and probably the ones you should be concerned with dan r, are, a good quality burn or final product you create will rely greatly on the quality of media you use and the second is that you will find that DVD burners are finicky when it comes to the discs you use. Some DVD burners won't recognize or have problems with a select few discs depending on the name brand. Other DVD burners have no problem with them.

As mentioned, "TYs" and Verbatim are two that are very good quality and most DVD burners like them.

Speaking of DVD burners, make sure the firmware is up to date on your DVD burner....that can be gotten or checked into at the manufacturers site.

My Dvd burner is BenQ EW126I and I've made sure the firmware is up to date. Roxio support has been helpful by suggesting most of the things I've seen in this forum although they are quite slow in their response.(up to a week) I will try Verbatim in future and for now go with the methods that work.

And BenQ is out of the DVD/CD burner bussiness. Some state you may get lucky and find a new BenQ on Ebay or Amazon. Dunno myself......... so far I like my Plextor 775 SA for my DVDs.

Unfortunately, you are correct about BenQ. I like my DW 1650 and my DW 1655. I was a Plextor user for many years until my 716A went belly up about 2 months after the warranty expired.

I switched to BenQ, and they sold out their optical works, about 3 months later. LOL!
