First of all popcorn rips me a DVD with the naming convention of "abcdefgh_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _". what is that all about?

Secondly,

Now the issue lies with that the aspect ration is wrong. The ORIGINAL is lightly wide screen with the black mat above and below the film (16:9). I do MacTheRipper arccos main feature only burn selecting MF 18, copy with popcorn (dragflix and toast ) selecting the 16:9 aspect ration for just main feature and no extras and burn. All 3 copies using toast and pocorn have the wrong aspect ratio and the screen on both sides are cut off.

Any idea why that is or how to resolve it? (it is not my 3 standalone DVD players) BTW, it (THE NEWLY BURNED DVD) plays in wide screen in the mac dvd player but still does not show the black matting above and below the animation

Thanks for helping try and work this one out

Kackles,

Sorry you could not get an answer at ripDifferent.com.

You must do full disc extraction with MTR in order for Popcorn to work properly. If choosing movie only in Popcorn results in a pan & scan movie instead of a widescreen movie, this means that both versions are on the original DVD and Popcorn chose the pan & scan one as the movie-only version. In this case you must do a full disc compression rather than movie only in order to access the widescreen version with your DVD player.

Alternativeley - in the above situation - you can use Toast 6 or 7 to create a disc image file of just the widescreen version and then have Popcorn compress that, if necessary, to a single-layer disc. Let me know if you have either Toast 6 or 7 and want directions on how to do this.
