New user of EMC8.
I have just finished formatting two CD-RW discs using Roxio 8 Drag and Drop program. The "fastest" time to format one was one hour and twenty minutes.
When I was using Nero on my old computer the task took only 10 minutes.
IS THIS NORMAL FOR ROXIO???

Depends on your computer but that is slow.

The next message you will receive will probably be a warning about using Drag to Disc for other than short term transfer of information from one computer to another and ten a further warning about using CD-RW disc for that. rolleyes.gif

Use Creator Classic. No formatting of the disc/disk is needed.

That option is a quick format and write in INCD! Roxios old Direct CD had the same option. I don't know about D2D because I haven't installed a drag and drop program in years, for the reasons given above.
If it took a hour twenty minutes you did a full format.

Thanks for the replies.
My system is Intel BLKD975XBX2KR motherboard: Intel E6600 2.4GhzCore 2 Duo processor:2 Gb DDR2 667Mhz RAM:Antec Neo 500W PSU:Asus EN7900GT Video Card: 2 Pioneer DVR-111DSV Dual Layer Burners:2 WD 3200KS 320Gb Sata II HDD: Zalman 9500 CPU Cooler.

I do not think the system is responsible for the slow formatting by Roxio D & D.

Reading all the Gloom and Doom about CD-RW Disc performance makes me realize how fortunate I have been. With my old computer running Nero and InCD Using the same four CD-RW discs for my back-ups for the past six (6) years I have not lost any data for any of the discs.

All I can say there is that I'd dearly love to have the luck you seem blessed with - seriously. ANY packet writing program, DLA, D2D, DirectCD, InCD or whatever is THE most disaster prone app going. Couple that with the limited read/write life cycle of RW discs it would appear you have a minor miracle going there.

I would like to think so.
But now for the removal and reinstall of Roxio EMC and hope that that does not corrupt my Win XP.
