Full Version: Quark files burn as Unix files

When I burn Quark 6 and older files in Toast 7.1.2 on My G5 Intel machine using PC/Mac format, the files come out as a Unix file on the burned CD. I cannot access them other than to copy the file to my hard drive, add the .qxd extension, then open with Quark.

Is there an easy fix other than to add the extension to each Quark file before I burn the CD? This does work, but is time consuming.

Toast 8 has a "Prompt to change Extension" check box in preferences that may address this issue.

What might work for you is to choose Preferences in the Finder, click the Advanced button and put a check mark next to "Show All File Extensions." The objective is to get the .qxd extension to appear in the file name in Toast.

I am not ready to update to Toast 8 yet, but this issue may put me over the edge and I'll be forced to.

The OSX advanced preferences, "show all file extensions" does not work to show the Quark extensions on my files.

Oh well..
