Videowave v9.

About the most I can do with a .vob is a couple items (split, trim) before it hangs.
My work around is to do one action after I bring in the .vob. I render it immediately into an mpeg.

Then I close the production and reopen with the mpeg - so far so good. It's just a little slower scrolling through the video. But it hasn't shut down yet. So there is hope.

The help desk guy says I 'should' be able to work directly with .vob - but no other suggestions when I ran out of time.

Though it does seem a bit of a chore if I only want to pull a tiny chunk from a 90 minute .vob...

have any of you had this issue?
is there a function to just "bring in" any type of video and convert directly?

A 90 minute .vob is the same as a 90 minute .mpeg file. It is long in the tooth, and it will be slow as molasses to do any trimming.

Even Roxio software breaks vob's into 1gb. A 1gb vob at 90 minutes long would be something I have never seen! The compression would be a bunch, is it a 1gb vob or larger? What is the source of the 90minute vob?

I have this same problem working with .vob's, I have not experienced it much with captured video from my camera.

My source for the .vob is a home made dvd of programs that I recorded from a DVR to a DVDR.

Does your DVR finalize and close the disc?

Yeah, I finalize it in my DVDR, otherwise my computer doesn't recognize the disk as having anything on it.

I have a bunch of DVD's that I have created from my DVR and DVDR that I want to edit, the problem is Videowave freezes up when I try to edit them. I don't have the problem when I edit .wmv files just vob files. Can I convert vob files back to wmv so I can edit commercials and stuff out of my video, then reburn it to a DVD after I have finished editing?

If this is the wrong forum, I am sorry.

that's exactly what I did (except I used mpeg, not wmv suspect .avi will work also). My problem is my only rendering program (that I know I have) is also Videowave. So load your .vob and then file/output it immediately without any other action (rendering).

It's worked so far.
