I get the -5001 error code sometimes, too. I have a Quicksilver G4 Mac with an (upgraded) internal Pioneer DVR-110 Dual Layer burner.

What I have discovered is that whether I get the verification error depends on what movie I am burning. Most of my movies burn fine. But I have one movie that always gives a -5001 error and refuses to even begin the verification process. And I have another movie that always burns, but reports a sector error about halfway through verification.

The good news is, all these discs always turn out to be okay.

Probably a incompatibility issue causing the error. Most of the time its the drive. I suggest updating the firmware on the recorder drive and make sure you are using Verbatim media.

Hours of web searching have left me with more questions than answers. I have downloaded DVR Flash v2.2 for OS 10.3, but all instructions mention having the firmware files available. But no matter how much I look, I can't find these anywhere. Any ideas?

I kept on getting the same 5001 error code just at the end of the burning stage. When I research the error code I found that everyone mainly had the same error message when using dual layer DVDs. I was copying about 7.5 gb DVDs. I think the error is being caused when you leave the deault option before copying the dic to 'use fit-to-dvd video compression'. When ever this was selected before copying a 7.5 gb dic it seemed to compress the disc to the standard 4.7gb. When I uncheck this option before copying I did not get the error message at the end and the DVDs copied perfectly
