Heres what I know I can do, take my video_ts file and convert to divx using the home theater settings, but it isn't great quality and the sound is off. I would like to know what the settings are, if any, that allow me to take my video_ts file and convert it to a file type that can be played in front row, which is quicktime, and be around 700-900mb in size. I like to leave them on my harddrive to watch while i travel to eliminate discs, i know its possible, i just am not sure if it is with popcorn 2. theres alot of formats and different settings, and ive done some experimenting but i am lost and it takes a long time to burn just to experiment. if popcorn can't do this, what program could? i hear toast 8 is amazing, would that be my answer?

Apple says that Front Row can play any movies in your Movies folder (and I also believe in iTunes) that are playable by QuickTime Player. So DivX is out but MPEG 4 is in. H.264 is even better quality (and smaller) but takes longer to encode.

Toast 8 is nice but you don't need it for what you're asking here.

Choose H.264. In the custom settings you'll see a button called Video Options. In that window choose the multi-pass encoding. That's the best quality. It takes forever. I suggest testing with a short video at both the quality settings to see if the multipass encoding is worthwhile to you. It might be if the video has a lot of action of is shot in low light.
