EM7 stopped working on my Dell Dimension 9150 saying there was no recordable drive in the PC!

Attempts to reinstall from the CD failed, so did reinstall from the on-hard-drive copy of the CD as used originally after installation failure.

Attempted installation of EM9 resulted in the identical problem

The error number is 1935, with the message :-

An error occurred during the installation of assembly

What changed between when it worked and now? If you installed WMP 11 or IE 7, try removing those. Also, if you have more than one packet writing software installed, remove one (or all if you don't know how to use them properly). Packet writing software includes but is not limited to: Drag-to-Disc (from v7, v8, v9), sonic DLA, Nero InCD, etc...

The only thing that happened was that I went away fdr the weekend! Last week all worked, this week - not. EM7 WAS working, but now said it couldn't find a recordable drive. An alteration in Control Panel to allow CD writing DID mean that CDs could be written by MS, but EM7 was certain that the drive didn't exist!

Sonic WAS existing at the same time as EM7, and EM7 has been happily working since bought, whenever that was. I never used Sonic, as I'd always used EZCD from way back.

Re-installing 7 failed, both from the CD and from the hard drive copy.

So Sonic was upgraded, and it DID recognise the DVD drive, but EM7 still failed with error 1935

Installing EM9 itself removed Sonic - or so it said....

Do a search (top right this page) on 1935, you should get quite a few hits.

I did!

And did everything in the Roxio Clean Installation document, including the MS Clean Install programme with all antivrus and anti-spyware turned off, and the install STILL crashes with Error 1935!

Now I have a copy of both 7 and 9, and neither will run - big deal!

This is an utter waste of time and money and I'm going to send the 9 CD back for a refund, and probably try Nero instead, although I always disliked it.

EZCD was once a good programme, but its crap now.

Roxio don't even bother to do anything about faults that are reported on the website- they issue a "tag" but then do #$^@-all about it.
