Windows XP 2002, v.5.1 ( Service pack 2 installed/= all updates)

Roxio EM Creator 8
WindowsOneCare ( Virus, Spyware, all-in-one)
Nvidia, Gforce FX 5200

How to Uninstall correctly and make a clean install?
I had a few problems & some questions, not a really knowledgeable computer person.

I didn’t turn off my Windowsonecare, installed with IE7, and installed EMC 8.

I do not understand if myDVD which came with my computer from DELL (Separate installation disk) conflicts or not with EMC 8 and would like to know?

Does EMC8 take care of the playing of DVDs, or make conflicts w/ mjm DVD, disks from Dell?
Do I need Nvidia, upgrade drivers?

I get the same problem I had a year ago, a wireless pop-up, telling me that a file in no longer there or working on start-up , but I still could access the wireless regardless ( But have concerns on compatibility or security issues.

I have no experience in uninstalling “ everything” including cookies, regfiles, and etc…
A link to comprehensive step-by-step instructions would be great.
Downloading IE7 took a longtime the other day, from a wireless.

I do not know how to suspend ( temporarily turn-off WindowsOneCare), And My system has just been reformatted ( Clean harddrive) and uploaded only MicrosoftOffice, and Win XP Home Edition, 2002, v.5.1, 32x, ( downloaded service pact 2 already)

My goal: Roxio EM Creator 8 clean and compatible w/ my entire system.

I like this product, and I want to have a successful install, on basically a clean system.

Thank you for any help.

Additionally - uninstall IE7 and also WMP11 if you have loaded them in. Both will wreck EMC8

Don't quite know how a Digital Guru would miss that.

Anyway the clean uninstall reinstall won't help the version EMC 8 install, if you leave Internat Explorer 7 on the PC. From control panel add remove programs. Is this a fresh reformat of the PC or did you reinstall any Dell, Sonic, or My DVD Program?
Emc 8 will play DVD's.
Yes you should update the video drivers from nvidia site.

I have a fresh harddrive, only MS office installed. However, I did upload PowerDVD, a program that came with the Dell set-up system. Thank you, cdanteek for describing I do not need another DVD player if I have EMC8 on my system.

However, when I uninstall IE7 and PowerDVD, I understand that everything is not completely removed. Will Registry files from the Power DVD still affect the files of EMC8, in the removal process? If so, how can I remove them without damaging things -- not very suited for playing with the Registry-- I find that place horrifying.

And, anyone, do I keep IE7 off my computer because it will always conflict with EMC8?

WMP11 is Windows Media Player 11. That and IE7 are both Vista apps that have been back ported to XP and will wreck EMC8, so, yes, keep both off your computer.

PowerDVD - I honestly can't asnwer regarding that. I doubt if it will interfere with the operation of EMC (in fact, Roxio at one time did have a licensed version with a blue backdrop instead of red)

Thanks gi7omy for all the information. It helps.

I took it off, I'm happy. It was the first time I used the EMC8 to play a DVD, yesterday. It was great. Can I use EMC8 to organize and run my videos and music? Because, right now I have not set up Windows Media Player – this would solve not setting it up so there would be no chance of any conflicts in the future. It is still in the zip form on the harddisk, after I uploaded the operating system. I can tell because it gives me a pop-up window to a wizard to set it up when I click on the icon. I rather leave it off If I can manage my music files.

I do not know what to do about Microsoft IE7, because it disabled a wireless file, shows up on start-up, and not sure if it is a Microsoft file or a Intel file ( Intel wireless on my harddrive), the security issue is the only concern. I would not know.

I had Symantic Internet Security, Ad aware SE Professional, and IE6, when I uploaded EMC8 a year ago ( before I did this entire reinstall), and the same wireless pop-up showed up upon start-up. This is the same concern with this install. My wireless worked, however, but I’m not sure if it was a concern. I ran my computer for two years, before it couldn’t function normally, and had to erase the harddisk. So I was able to run my computer and EMC8, but I only burned CDs, mainly Word Files, PDFs, and picture files. So I do not know if the other programs will have problems in the future if I keep IE7 – but the most concern is a security issue of any type. If there are known problems, it would be a help to know before I make a final decision and upload other programs which may need to come –off if I reformat MS XP Home Edition again, and make a clean install of EMC8.

Also, I chose Microsoft One Care ( Security all-in-one), the program demands one too install IE7 on the computer, if it is not there – pop-ups are annoying, if one ignores this. Overall, I noticed a complete slowdown of the start-up process, after I installed EMC8 over IE7 – I can live with it, if I was certain that there were no security issues. I may contact Intel, and ask about this specific file, if I can find out that it is a file from the Intel ( internal) Wireless Card. If there is a major security issue with combining IE7 and EMC8, can you let me know?

There's no security issue in installing IE7 - all that will happen is EMC8 will cease to function correctly

IE7 and WMP11 are both backports from Vista, they both make changes to the OS kernel and both mess up other apps
