I currently have Roxio 7 and want to upgrade to latest free software - should I be downloading the Roxio 7 upgrade or downloading the update that I would like ie Roxio 8??

Don't confuse updates (which are free) with upgrades (which aren't)

Updates are patches to an existing program, where upgrades are new programs. Think of XP as being an upgrade to 2000 or windows 9x - that had to be bought and paid for, where MS updates didn't.

The latest update for EMC 7 is here

"Update the Retail (CD-ROM) version of Easy Media Creator 7.0x suite to 7.1.1.189 (English Only)"

I don't think there's concealing intended. I think the confusion perhaps is with the term 'new programs'. eg I can get xyz9 two ways: I didn't have it before at all and I am *buying* the latest version and put it in my computer--New Program. If I already have xyz8 and I want xyz9, it is an upgrade (I don't know if this has to be paid for or not--I just got to this product site). If I am using xyz9 and Roxio wants to send a fix or change for the product you already have (xyz9), they will issue and update or patch or whatever else they call it. You download the patch, run the patch program, and you have the latest best components for your xyz9. Hope that helps <><

Hey - that's just a quotation from Stargate SG1 - nothing intended regarding the original post or the reply laugh.gif
