I have a brand new Dell E520. Video card driver is up to date, HD is defragged. When I capture my home movies, the audio is out of sync-about 1-2 seconds behind the video. This happens whether I capture long or short clips. There seems to be alot of postings about this issue. Should I ask for a refund from Digital River??

If you check those postings, you'll usually see the suggestions for the cure

First of all - did you install the latest DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft

Also - did you defrag the hard drive before rendering each time (it can fragment very fast)?

Finally - what is the video card in your computer and how much RAM?

I have a brand new Dell E520 (less than 2 months old) so I'll check the DirectX. Ihave a ATI x1300pro and 2gb of RAM.HD was defragged. Any other suggestions?

Even tho the computer is new, still go to the Video Card maker's site and get THEIR latest drivers

Also, check some of the other posts on the sync issue and see if any solutions are there

btw - the audio sync problem is not peculiar to Roxio - it happens in a lot of other s.w as well

You may have purchased the computer only 2 months ago, but I see UPDATES for that model dated SEPT 2006! I can't get specific information on the machine you purchased because Dell requires the number from the machine. Looks like you have a TV tuner card for capturing. Make sure you have the latest drivers and codecs for that card, too.

Upgraded to the lastest video card driver and updated Direct X. Still the audio is out of sync!! I guess this just doesn't work with vista!!!

If you're using the ati card for capture in vista, might want to check out the ati fan site, rage3d...

If you're using the dvc90, AFAIK we're still waiting for non beta [working] drivers.

With a relative few exceptions, capture is far from a done deal in vista so far..
