Full Version: Subtitle question

Thanks to the help of some Forum members I was able to get a movie to play at the startup of my DVD.
The movie contained something similar to "Please don't copy....etc.etc." and only appeared at the insertion of the disk.

I am now trying another way to get the text sharper.
I have created a short movie that is completely black.
The idea is to add the Warning text by using subtitles........ I notice the text is much clearer than that on an imported movie already with the text.

The question is: Can I set that first movie's subtitles so they will be "forced" to show as a default?
So when the movie plays - the subtitle track will automatically be shown.

If you set the clip as first play. Than it will always be played first . And than you can add subtitles , either by using the subtitle editor in DVDit Pro or using a text script files.

I would recommned to check the product help in order to get the better understanding for subtitles script files.

you put in a few seconds of black as first play and you set the end action as the piece you are looking to add subtitles to. you do a "set stream" on the end action that sets the subtitle stream to on. you'll need to make sure that your subsequent buttons from your menus specify that subtitles should be off (if that is what you want, if there are subtitles in the other part of the program) because you just turned them on and they will stay on for other pieces of content until you turn them off.

Thanks for your quick response, Bunty.

However I have already succeeded with the First-Play problem and also I have been using subtitles for the past 3 weeks now.

My question was (let me rephrase it)

Can I force a subtitle to be displayed for a clip whenever it is played!
Usually the viewer will choose a subtitle substream via the remote controller.

I want the subtitle to appear whether or not the viewer has used the remote.....

In other words I want the clip to default to the subtitle stream whenever it is played.

Hope that clarifies my question a little better.
