1- Unregister it by typing this at the command line-regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\dao\dao360.dll"
then.2- Register it: regsvr32 "c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\dao\dao360.dll"
Go to START/RUN then copy and paste the Unregister command in the run box. PRess OK
Do the same with the second command to register.
initialize the roxio product you are using.
If this fixes your problem, please post with the video adapter you are using.
This fix so far has worked on all the built by ATI AIW radeon and AVIO cards.
Thanks. I have an ATI AIW X800XT and today had some problems installing driver updates. As directed in their FAQ on the issue, did a full removal of all ATI software, then installed the current files . Still got the goofy error messages from ATI, so I tried it all again, but with the same result. So, I called ATI support, who said this was a known DAO conflict with the DAOs in the Roxio software and directed me to UNISTALL all ROXIO software!!! Like a dummy, I did. He then transferred me to a senior, to walk me through the ATI software update installation. The Senior Tech put me on the right path and sent some intsturctions by email to fix the ATI DAO issue. All of which did work for the ATI AIW update.
Fortunately, the senior ATI Tech said that this was a know issue in a DAO conflict with Roxio but that there was now a patch to fix it and also sent me an email with a link to this thread. He also said that the intial Tech I spoke with was wrong and now that there was a Sonic workaround, he should NOT have recommended that I unintall the Sonic products. (Glad ATI is getting its signals straightened out.)
And even more fortunately, I had kept the downloaded Roxio 8 installation files elsewhere, together with the email from Sonic that confirmed my order and provided my installation codes. So, I was able to reinstall the EMC 8 software suite and CD content package.
THEN I ran the cut and paste fix you described.
The point being, the DAO conflict can crop up in an ATI update or install just as it can with a Roxio EMC 8 install. Best to be careful in each case. And absolutely no need to uninstall your Sonic software in order to get your ATI product to run. Just use the fix show in this thread.
All is, so far, now running smoothly.
So, thanks for the fix, frankcollela.
