I am having a problem with an error message after doing anything with Sonic Record Now. After either making a Data CD, recording a CD, or copying a DVD I receive this message upon trying to shut down my computer. RecordNowexe. not responding How do I stop this annoying error from appearing and how do I make the computer shut down instead of showing this and then giving the options to END Now or cancel

The computer shuts down immediately anytime I use it until after I have run Sonic record now. This on Sonic Record Now 7.3 LE

Boy, I can't believe this, write to the company's own forum and still don't get an answer concerning one of their own products. Five full days with no responses. UNBELIEVABLE!

Well, this is a user discussion group sponsored by Roxio/Sonic, not a way to contact them, so it's no surprise they haven't replied to your post.

That aside, since you list your version as an "LE" one, did it come with the pc or a drive you bought? If so, that means you have an OEM version and you typically need to contact them for support.

If you want some of your fellow users here to offer suggestions, post some specifics about your pc. Maybe someone will have some ideas.

My version came with my computer when I ordered it from DELL. My computer is a Dell Dimension 3000, P4 with HT. 3.0Gig, 80 gig harddrive operating on a Windows XP Home Edition and a NEC3450 CD/DVD RW burner. Any suggestions would be appreciated because you can't get any information from DELL on it.

Has it always behaved like this, or did it just start recently?

Have you updated to IE 7 and/or WMP 11 by chance? If so, they could be causing the issue and you should roll them back to their prior version (IE6 and WMP 10 or 9). They pretty much break all pre-v9 Roxio/Sonic products (along with a number of other applications).

Have you tried doing a Repair on RecordNow thru Add/Remove programs?

It didn't always do this, it does seem like it was after accepting IE7 and WMP 11. I also have Nero 6.6.0.18 and ImgBurn installed. But I am not sure what is causing it. My neighbor has Sonic 7.3 the same exact version and an older version of Nero installed and claims that he doesn't have any problems at all. He also took the upgrades to IE7 and WMP 11.

I have completely removed Sonic and run the Roxio clean tool, and uninstalled Nero and run the Nero clean tool and still seem to have the problem after reinstalling Sonic and Nero. If I don't use Sonic it shuts down just fine. If I run Sonic to make a copy of anything, it has problems shutting down.

This may not work for your OEM version. Go to Add/Remove, select your Sonic program>change and follow directions.

I have found Recordnow never actually stops running after a burn even though you have closed down the application - resulting in you not being able to read your next disk you try to read or burn. Of course because it is still running you get the prompt when windows shuts down. My solution to this although its a pain in the arse is just to go to the task manager after I have manually shut down the program by normal means (Ctr/Alt/Del) select the processes tab - scroll till you find Recordnow and "end Process"
