I am backing up some home videos I have on DVD onto a new hard drive I bought. I am doing this by creating images using Disc Copier in my Roxio Suite 7. For some strange reason, some DVDs offer .iso, .cue/bin, or .c2d as save type options, whereas other DVDs only offer .cue/bin and .c2d. Does anybody know what exactly the attribute is of the DVD that keeps .iso from being an option? I would definitely prefer to save my entire collection as .iso files.

It really depends on the format of the av file you are saving - for some reason some of those won't work as iso and have to use the c2d format (if it's even converted to iso, it gets messed up

This isn't just a Roxio thing - I also prefer .iso and have a conversion program that will change from one format to another and, at times, that just refuses to convert the .bin file to .iso

This is clearly a problem with Roxio (at least version 7 - I have no idea about more recent versions). I downloaded a program called MagicIso and it created .iso images of the same DVDs that Roxio Disc Copier won't create .iso images of. Roxio's Disc Copier did however manage to burn backup DVDs using the .iso images created by MagicIso.

I'm wondering if the issue doesn't have something to do with the size of the files on the DVD.

I've used MagicISO myself and a couple of others - you should be aware that if you try to convert a bin/cue file to iso that it may convert - but won't work. This is because some multi-media discs cannot be produced in .iso and a good conversion program should warn you when you try to do that
