Full Version: reading D2D discs in the same drive after recording

I just installed the phantasmagorical bloat that is "easy" Media Creator 9 to try and get the D2D functionality back that I had with Creator 5.0. (long story for another post; suffice it to say that I can't get creator 5 back up and nobody knows and/or cares enuf to help so I ended-up paying for this dog and now I'm stuck with it). Despite the unremitting guff D2D gets on this forum I have stacks of D2D discs that I have accumulated over 5 years with never any data loss.

So anyway after running roxiozap the fourth or fifth instal came close to working (at least it didn't crash the machine). Now it's at the point where direct to disc will format and write files to a CD, but once I eject the CD and re-insert it immediatly into the same drive, D2D thinks it's a "blank disc". Explorer window for the drive is empty. BUT when I open "properties" on D2D icon menu it admits there is some amount of data on the "blank" CD. The program is just unable or unwilling to show them.

Even you'll have to admit that's less than useful, not to mention, less than promised.

Is there a way to fix this or is this feature really only included to frustrate and harass those paying customers who are gullible enuf to belive your marketeer's hype?

Nice rant, but you are posting it in the wrong place. If you want to talk to Roxio, you need to contact them directly. This is a users forum, and we aren't Roxio.

The fix is to use a more reliable program in the suite for backing up your important data. Use Creator Classic. Drag to Disc (and other packet writing software) was designed for lazy folks who were tricked into thinking that CD drives and DVD (optical) drives could be treated as if they were floppy drives, which they really aren't.

The result of this is folks whining because eventually their drives can't read those disks/discs.

It sounds like you need to follow the Clean Install recommendations, Here.

D2D became much more sophisticated through the years and the V9 version is more of a new write than a mere upgrade. I have outlined my experances with it, here.
