Once it activates, it is good to go, unless you do something crazy to pooch your computer. I would use a program like Norton Ghost to back up your main hard drive to another hard drive. Then, if you have a problem, you can Ghost back to a time when all was working well.

R Kelly: Someday it may ask to be activated… If it does, you know how to do it.
I never ran into to any of this as mine activated without a glitch during install.
If it is working you don't have any problem.

I have had to "activate" everytime I run My DVD, and the activation dialogue boxes for Disc Copier is buggy and doesm't display any information. My internet is really flacky, so there are MANY times when I cannot run the software because I don't have internet connection. The program I PAID FOR won't run because I don't have internet connection?!@?
This whole activation system is aimed at stopping pirates, but in the end, has only managed to annoy loyal customers. From the rest of the posts, and the non-existent responses from Roxio, either then don't have a clue how to fix the problem, or they just don't care. Incompetency or indifference, but for the customer, it is a disctinction without difference. I cannot use the product I paid for.
So, Nero, Microsoft, Adobe Premiere, Pinanacle Systems. These are competitors, and apparently the only voice Roxio hears will be the departure of customers to their competition.
Plus, I did the "support" survey, and they offered me $10 off my next purchase. How wonderful? The next software I buy from from Roxio, and which won't run because if fails to activate will be $10.00 cheaper. Hurrah! Now, I fell so much better.

Have you called phone tech support yet? I read in another thread that an individual was finally able to register doing this.
I have another question. Have you registered the product itself? The very first time I installed EMC9, I registered EMC9 and then activated MPEG2 (I had XP back then.) When I installed EMC9 on Vista, I filled out the info for EMC9 registration, and this time didn't have to activate MPEG2 even though I had new everything. This leads me to believe that the activation is tracked with your registration of EMC9.
