I was burning a few .avi and .srt files onto my DVD+R.

After I insert the DVD+R, started roxio creator basic 9, choose data disc, added the files and click on "burn", the burning process starts, though, after writing about 10 or 20% of the files, I get this error:
Sense: 04 ASC: 09 ASCQ: 03 (Command 2A)
-------------------------------------------------------
Px.dll: 3.6.36.500
PxAFS.DLL: 3.6.36.500
pxdrv.dll: 1.2.5.0
PxMas.dll: 3.6.36.500
PxSFS.DLL: 3.6.36.500
PxWave.dll: 3.6.36.5

I've tried burning less data (<1gb) but the same error still occurs.
I've tried using Nero but it can't write on it either.
Burning CDs work, however.

I'm using the LightScribe DVD SuperMulti Drive/CD-writer driver which came with my HP Pavilion a6098d.

Help please? I have wasted like 5 DVDs already. Thank you.

I've tried once again, this time after the error was displayed I chose the option "Try Again".

It started burning and after the verifying disc process, I got another error.
Sense: 03 ASC: 10 ASCQ: 00 (Command 28)

Px.dll: 3.6.36.500
PxAFS.DLL: 3.6.36.500

PxSFS.DLL: 3.6.36.500
PxWave.dll: 3.6.36.500
pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

Even though the burning process was complete, the disc couldn't be opened.

First thing is to get a disc or 2 of RW media so you can erase and reuse the media if a burn goes bad.

Sounds like the drive is failing. If under warranty, contact HP for troubleshooting and possible replacement.

If you look at the drive in the Device Manager (Win-Pause, Hardware tab), does it show any errors for that drive?
Linh
Thanks, but my device manager doesn't show error for the drive.

If it's my drive is failing, how is it able to burn .iso files?

Don't know! But if 2 different software packages cannot burn a data project to the drive, it ain't the software…

Run the Roxio Disc and Device Utility and see what it has to say about the drive.

Likewise, did HP include any diagnostic software with the drive? If so, give that a try and see what comes up.
Linh
Thanks james_hardin. I'll run the program and post the results here. I just realized i don't have that utility.

Anyone help please? Don't tell me the error has never been encountered by anyone.

Go here and look up your sense code http://www.smart-projects.net/help.php?help=305

As James has already said "if 2 different software packages cannot burn a data project to the drive it aint the software".

Check with HP.
