I just bought Creator Suite 9 with the Dazzle capture device and am hoping to transfer our old home movies from VHS tapes to my computer. I also have some 8mm tapes in a camcorder. When I connect the camcorder to the computer (with the cord that came with the camcorder) I am able to capture everything fine. When I try to connect the VCR, I am able to get audio. The video shows a blank blue screen like it does on my TV until I press play on the VCR. As the VHS tape plays, all I get on my computer is static for video, though the sound continues to come through.
I am using the cables that I connect the VCR to my TV with. These appear to be the "RCA Cables" that the "getting started card" says I should have.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Since everything works fine with the 8mm tapes, that may be a clue there is something wrong with the VHS tape. As the years go by, magnetic tape can lose some of the 'magnetic' ability which decreases the signal strength when played back. Some analog capture devices can be really picky about the signal strength especially if it is low. If possible, try another VCR with the same tape.

I know this sounds silly but are you sure you're on the video out and not video in on the VCR?

Try the Dazzle drivers from here:

Thanks for the advice. I tried a different VCR but got the same result. I then tried one more time on my original VCR and everything worked fine. I did have the cables in "video out" (but that was a good question!). Thanks again.
