Full Version: Need Help - Recordnow.exe stuck in Task Manager

I am using Record Now version 7. Anytime I burn a data CD or DVD and quit Record Now, the executable file (recordnow.exe) remains active in my Task Manager processes list. If I attempt to start the application again later, it will not start unless I first go into the Task Manager and end this process.

If I simply run Record Now and then exit without burning a disk, the exit seems to work fine and the process quits as it should.

Any idea what's going on here? To my knowledge I am systematically following the right steps when I finish burning a disk and quit the application. I thought something may have become corrupted with the Record Now installation, but I recently had a disk crash and reloaded everything from scratch. This problem persists.

Appreciate any help with this annoying problem. Aside from this, I love the application.

Thanks.

I am having the exact same issue. I have also tried a reinstall with no luck. I found one reply to this issue on google and they mentioned about uninstalling Media Player 11 (beta). This doesn't apply to me but it may work for you.

Please post back if you find a fix, and I will do the same.

Cheers

I have also experienced this problem on 6 different machines. Suggestions welcome...

Do you have IE 7 installed by chance? If so, try rolling it back to IE 6, as IE 7 in XP causes problems with many programs.

That would make sense, but unfortunately IE 7 has been set up in the work environment here quite deep. I have other programs dependent on IE7 since updates have been installed to fix problems with them. I have this problem in a workgroup environment of computers, so this would not be good fix for 5 machines. Really, I think the benefit of IE7 over IE6 far outweigh fixing this problem anyway. Perhaps Roxio should have a patch for this problem?

Whether they should or not is a subject that could be talked about 'til the cows come home probably. Whether they will is something different. All indications are that there is no forthcoming compatibility updates for the mess IE 7 and WMP 11 cause in XP. The EMC version 9 (and soon to be released 10, based on ads on amazon) is the only version that they say is compatible with IE 7 and WMP 11. You could always contact them and see if they have any other information.

This is caused by WMP 11. I have an IBM Thinkcenter and IBM recently came out with a fix for the problem. They actually have a new suite of programs that correct the problem. Since installing the fixes, everything works fine. Record now has been replaced by a different program, but it does and proforms just like Record Now. Also, someone posted that Dell has a fix for the problem.
