Please help - I am 2 hr's. new to Popcorn 2 and I cannot figure out why Popcorn will happly convert a commerical DVD ripped with MTR (for usa as a back up copy) to MPEG4 but not a family picture DVD created by a Samsung DVD recorder at home to MPEG4. I want to work with the kids pictures in iMovie and Popcorn gives me the error message (Mac OS Error = 50). What the heck does this mean? The family DVD was ripped to my internal hard drive and I have also tried it straight from the DVD with the same results - Error 50.
Any ideas or help would be great!

The problem with the DVD recorder's DVD likely is timecode breaks. What you'll need to do is use MPEG Streamclip instead of Popcorn. Streamclip is free except for it requiring the $20 Quicktime MPEG2 Playback Component that you purchase and download from the Apple Store.
After opening the video from the DVD in Streamclip choose Fix Timecode Breaks from the Edit menu. You then can also trim out segments you don't want. Then Export to MPEG4 using that option in the File menu.

Ok - I gave Streamclip a try and it was very complicated to understand, so I gave HandBrake a try and it worked fine. Kind-of sucks that I bought Popcorn, I could have used HB for free. Do you think I could get my money back for Popcorn?
