hi gang

i recieved a cassette tape with a movie i put on a dvd with the help of my trusty dvd recorder.when i watched
the movie on the dvd i noticed the sound was distorted but the picture was beauitful.does roxio 9 offer some
option ho help this this type of problem??thanks

It's hard to say really whether it will or won't improve. If the sound is dostorted already, you can't make it better (that's presuming you are making it from the DVD rather than the Video Cassette)

What to watch for - do a test capture and alter the sound levels in the audio propewrties. If they're too high, the audio will start to 'clip' but the best level is by experimentation with small segments first

You don't need to burn those to DVD - save them as .iso images and load them in Disc Image Loader (as an emulated drive)

you mean to load the cassette tape itself rather than the dvd of it?so i would need an video card??i once
tried this and its very very time consuming to do.i cant save it ti the computer with the dvd??thanks.

The problem is that if the audio is distorted on the DVD the 'GIGO' rule kicks in (Garbage In = Garbage Out)

No program will improve distortion really - you can't get any improvement on what you feed in

i c what about this.....i hook up my vcr into my computer and use the wave editor to capture it(ive done
this before)the soundtrack from the movie.then edit it with the wave editor.how would i configure the
edited soundtrack with the movie?can i do this??thats the question....i was told i needed a thired party
software.

No need for a third party software. If you have the sound track as a wave file, simply add your video to Video Wave, mute the native audio track (show hide tracks and then the speaker icon) and add the audio to any of the other audio tracks. You could use, for example the music track. You can move the audio back and forth until it lines up. You may have to work in 10-15 minute segments to reduce or eliminate any AV sync issues.

im trying to understand this...its getting complicated...how would i get the video portion into the computerr though?i dont have a good video card....

Didn't you say you had a good video of the movie already? The one with bad audio. Use the video from the DVD (copy VOB files to the hard drive and use those in VideoWave) and then use the audio from the tape (you said you have done this in the past.)

Is the audio on the original tape bad? If so, you are out of luck if unless it is minor distortion and you can fix it in Sound Editor. You can also try Bias Sound Soap or Gold Wave. Both of those audio programs have free trial (I think.)

If neither of the above is a correct interpretation of your problem, perhaps if you clarify?

Start to save up for a new analog to digital converter (not video card). You can A/D converters as cards or as USB devices. How well they work on your computer does rely on you video card and how good your computer is. You've been around for awhile, why haven't you added your computer specs to your signature?
