I recently upgraded from EC7 to EC9 due to the IE7 bug. I installed EC9 ok, was able to bring up the "home" menu and burn a DVD. A couple of days later I click on the "home" menu icon on the desktop and I see my hard drive do some I/O for 10 seconds or so and then it just stops. I try going through Start-Menu etc. to access individual Data or Video options in EC9 and the same thing happens.

So I then uninstall and reinstall EC9 and everything works ok but then the next time I try using it the cycle repeats again where I can't load any of the EC9 modules. I have no trouble with any other items in my IBM / Windows XP PC.

I'm a little frustrated since I'm out $69 for the EC7 to EC9 upgrade, which I had to get because I upgraded to IE7. Now I can't use EC9 unless I reinstall it each time?! What gives? Any help appreciated.

Personally, I'd have just got rid of IE7 but that's another matter

Did you run a spyware sweep to see if there's anything lurking that shouldn't be there? Also, did you remember to turn off all running programs during the initial install (and that includes any anti-virus programs)

Thank you for your response.

Spyware sweeps run regularly (every 1-2 days). Installation done per spec with nothing else running.

And today I get an email from Roxio pitching their EMC10 for a mere $29.99 more, hmmm!
