I am a real newbie to this program so wanted to start out with a simple project like a slide show with music. The problem I found was I am not able to add ogg extension sound files to the project. I haven't found a program named "sound editor" as yet so although it is referenced in other posts I haven't a clue as to how I can get one of these ogg sound files added to the project. Incidentally, am running EMC 8.2XE.

You have a OEM version that probably came with your Mad Dog burner. Contact them to see if their version supports ogg extensions and if it contains the Sound Editor.

It's been a while since I ran EMC 8 on my computer but I don't think that EMC 8 can use ogg audio files. There are some programs around that can convert ogg to other audio formats however, so you might want to think about something like that. This is just one program that I know of---
