Hi All,

I have to admit...I'm a little apprehensive about upgrading to version 9 based on what I reading. Is it worth the effort? Version 8 seems to running OK on my system. What advantages will I gain (if any) by going to version 9? The sad thing is I bought version 9 and I'm afraid to try to install it.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

A lot of people upgraded from V8 to V9 because it seemed to be more stable so it should work fine for you. Since you are starting with the Deluxe Suite, you won't really gain much in terms of transitions, overlays and the like. You'll be better off if you delete V8 followed by a full clean-up and then an install of V9 rather than installing V9 over V8.

If V8 gives you everything you want, you might consider selling the copy of V9. BTW, V10 is a simplified version of V8/V9 with heavy emphasis on user usability with use of portable devices It is sometimes difficult to use V10 if you have used earlier versions of the software.

I personally use V9 on my computer that has both V9 and V10 because I like V9 better. V9.1 or V10 if you plan to go to Vista.

Might I suggest you allay your fears by making an image of your HD before doing the upgrade? Then if either you don't like the new version, or are having problems, you can restore your drive and be back in business in a short amount of time. I like Acronis True Image for my imaging, others like Ghost, or the older Partition Magic. But an image backup of your drive is always a handy thing to have, in case of mechanical failures, or in a case like this where you simply want to have some insurance.

Good luck!

Actually Dave - it was Drive Image from Powerquest - Partition Magic was just to split the hard drive (re-parttion it) laugh.gif
