under "project settings" (for HD Transcoding) the default target bit rate is 24000, how long of a movie will approx. fit on a BD-R 25 gig disc. (motion menu is 30 seconds)....(I've burned sample footage at the default rate and the quality is very very good..Gary

Sorry, one more thing I'm using Edius HQ avi's in my project. Gary

I would recommend using Edius to encode to a legal MPEG2 instead of having DVDit do the encoding. Plus, you'll see the file size that you'll get and thus determine how much space you project will take up. Back to the original question, I think you can get about 3-4 hours @ 24000.

Thanks for the help, if you're using Edius whats the advantage of the Mpeg 2 file from Edius, I didn't thing I would be able to get that much time on the 25 gig disc. I burned a one hour movie on a 25 gig disc last week with a motion menu and the physical disc seems to have about half of it used...I would be very happy with two hrs. per disc. Thanks again. Gary

pretty good bitrate caluculator you can use here:

I get about 115 minutes with PCM audio @ 23,750 kbs using this calculator.

I think Edius uses Procoder 3 (or a cut down version) to encode which I think it produces a better MPEG than what DVDit does. I think if you went down to 20mbps your probably will fit 2 hours+ and not really lose much quality

I don't have the procoder app. but from Edius timeline if I go to "print to file" which is the best option for Roxio, ( I have used the "Canopus HQ AVi" and it looked very very good on a -R Blu-ray from Roxio...)....Gary

Hmmm...which version of Edius are you using? I could have sworn Procoder comes with it...been awhile since I played with the demo.
