I bought Roxio 9 few months ago went on a long trip now an trying to DL.I did get a response from support giving a method to DL it did not work and I do not know how to get back to them.
I am getting a error message (The system cannot read from the specified device)I have 2 computers hook up together with 1 monitor, keyboard and a mouse.I have tried on both machines and get the same message. The fix they suggested was DL an item then turn off all startups and disable all Microsoft items. It went thru all of the DL before it gave me the error message thought I had it made for awhile there.I have tried about 10 or 12 times on each computer.Do any of you have any ideas you would share with me.If so I would appreciate it but please be gentle I am old and not completely with the program when it come to computers
Thanks
Steve

"I am getting a error message (The system cannot read from the specified device"

Just what device is it trying to read from ?? If you bought it as a download, where did you purchase it from (Roxio or someother place) ?? All of the downloads for Roxio programs are downloaded from another company that does that for Roxio. Someone might have the website address for them. I don't have it right now but will see what I can do.

The terminology got a little mixed up here, hence the problem understanding. You are not downloading. You are installing the software.

Many folks download the software from Roxio, on the Internet. Once they download the software, they install it. Frank thought you were having problems downloading the software from the Internet. So did I, until your last post.

If the disc is bad, you may be able to exchange it at Costco. First, make a folder on your hard drive, and try to copy the contents of the disc, to that folder. If all the files do copy to the folder, run the setup.exe from there.

And, let us know if it works.

Yeah, if you had noted that you had bought the program from a store and have the actual original installation discs that certainly would have changed a response.

Another item I'm still not sure of is what the "device" is that cannot read the disc. And I say "DISC" (singular) as the EMC 9 program you bought should have come with two separate discs. One the program disc itself and another "Content" disc that adds all the various templates etc. to the program.

It's entirely possible that there might not be anything wrong with your program disc but rathet a hardware problem. If it's definitely not a hardware problem then like Bruce suggested, it might be a bad disc which would mean trying to get an exchange for it at CostCo.
