I'm having activation problems for MPEG, no 25 digit code shows up on offline activation. When I go online it asks for my product code number. I put in everything on my cd case, it doesn't accept it. Do I find this product key somewhere else????

Im having the same problem this program worked about 2 months ago with no issues and now it not working. I cant find a 25 digit activation key. This is my last Roxio product. In done with this crap. I have to shut down everything to make it work so see you crappy Roxio enough is enough. I can run Call of Duty 4 max out but i cant run a DVD program. When and if this company ever learns how to make software again I may be back but will not hold my breath on them fixing there issues.

Sometimes you have to keep trying it before it will 'take'. Part of the problem is the mpeg codec is a third party one and the supplier insisted on the 'activation'

Not to be rude but yes, to quote my USMC DI you can shine a turd but you still have a turd. I have now done a clean install and still no luck. I just dont understand why this program can have so many problems and no fixes. And yes I mean to BASH Roxio programmers as they have not done there job. Now they want us to upgrade to the next version I think not I will be looking else where. I have now spent most of my day today to get this junk to work. Sorry for the rant but its just too much I feel like Im trying to reinvent the wheel here trying to get this to work. And just so you all know here are the specs of my rig.

As I said earlier - the mpeg activation is not down to Roxio but the third party suppliers. It is a major headache and has caused a lot of us a lot of grief but the only way is as stated - there are regulars here who had to go through that 5 or 6 times before the thing 'took'

But, you said it was working for you a month ago. What did you, or someone else who uses your computer do, in the past month, that would have killed the program? What was installed on your computer since the time it was working. The shiny turd may be something else that you may have shined.

Thats where I have to disagree with. It is Roxio responsibility to provide the fix to make their program. IE patches, updates or just posting the Activation code to end this madness. Im so sick of being the beta tester for all these companies that cant make a compatible program. Not that windows is any better. Heck there the worst of all. I tried the manual off line activation and I didnt get a code just a place to put the code. If there problem is there sever why cant they fix that. I mean come on I have read post and post were tech support doesnt even help or they never hear back. I know your just another consumer like me so I know you cant answer the question but this is our only means of showing our dislike for there product in hopes that they just might read it. The way we know they read it is when the mods close the posts or ban a user. Just like all the other forums on the net when the truth of a companies support comes out.

In the end it doesn't matter what you or I think. This is the way V9 is set up, you will have to learn to live with it.

You guys are either company men or you dont buy alot of software these days. Everyone out to get i dont think so. Its the society we live in today. The pass the blame or its not my job to do that it was so someone else was suppose to do that. Well lets see I have added Call Of Duty 4 to my rig but if a game is interfering with this program then I beleive that this is the progam that is flawed. And to live with the you have to live with mentality is what they prefer. If you havent figured it out yet in you life then i hate to be the one to brake it to you. And to blame it on another program is just that pass the blame. What am i suppose to do once it works never install another program. By looking at your pics and names surly you have been around long enough to expect some one to do their job. Maybe thats my problem I expect to much from someone. And if you guys read most of the post to which you have responded you will see that this is becoming more and more of a problem. So what is the cause of me not being able to get the 25 digit code that is suppose to magically appear? And if offline activation doesnt work and online doesnt work what is one to do? That is the 10,000 dollar question. Am I now stuck with an program that can only make copies of data and music cds. If i wanted that i would have bought Nero.

Well gentlemen Im out of here I have now spent 2 days trying to get this to work with now luck. This program is just not worth it anymore. I guess its time to look else where. I purchased a reg cleaner to find that there were 106 registry entries that were not removed from roxio. So i then tried to reinstall after cleaning the reg and a defrag, disk clean up and a scan disk. Still no luck. I have run out of ideas on what to do with the exception of a format and windows reinstall and that is just a crazy thing to do for 1 program. I appreciate your advice and chatting with you. Not sure what ill purchase since I have always used ez cd creator. I will continue to watch the thread just in case you guys have any other suggestions.

I have the same problem as I have been reading reguarding the Activation process. I call it a LOVE TRIANGLE and we all know historically love triangles do not work very well. My love triangle is between Roxio (software), Dell (computer), and Office Max (retailer). Roxio - has the activation key but, will give it to me because I did not purchase the product on-line. Dell - Since they did not install the software on the hard drive of the computer they suggested I go to Roxio for activation. Office Max - "Don't look at me I only sold you the software", suggest I go to Roxio. Roxio Support - For just $1.87 a minute they will help me resolve my problem. Install a Microsoft clean up patch, remove all roxio installs and try again. Ha, Ha did not work either (this was a $44.00 call). Surely there must be somebody in this world that can help me to find out what the Product Key is. Although, Roxio does have a somewhat decent package I cannot recommend it to anyone. Is there an alternative. I mean can I produce the slideshow I want and use some other product to turn it into a VCD Mpeg2 result I can show on my TV?

I'm seeing the same problem with mpeg2 activation, and it's not worth the aggravation anymore. I'e tried all the recommendations, and John's "Pinned" instructions need to be updated or taken down. In addition to not fixing the problem, the instructions give the incorrect impression that a solution exists. This causes numerous folks a lot of hassle as they try again and again to follow them.

Ever since Roxio was spun off from Adaptec, they have erected barriers to tech support, reduced update frequency and accelerated version release. The whole package has become a kludged together bunch of software from various sources.

I think I'm going to keep the CD and Label Creator versions for awhile and either upgrade my Pinnacle Software, or move to Adobe Premiere for video editing. Then eventually transition to Nero for CD and DVD authoring.

I've used this product line since Version 4, and it's the last one I'll buy.

Now I'm off to a few of my favorite shopping sites to write a review. All in the name of public service, you know.

Oh well, unfortunately it doesn't work for everyone. Wait until you try authoring anything in Nero, though. It is pretty useless.

You say Nero is useless is that from personal experiance or is that just and opinion. I mean you have 21,000 plus post to the roxio board kind of makes me think you would say anything other then roxio is junk. Also is this an unbiased opinion of nero. I still have not purchased another program for making my home DVD's. I too have to agree that I will not purchase EMC 10. No matter how much you guys say they fixed it I just wont believe it.

Oh and please dont take this the wrong way Grandpabruce , as i dont mean any disrespect. Also if you have to purchase another program what would it be?

I don't know about Bruce but I've tried a LOT of other apps (including that fiddly one) - including a lot you've probably never heard of.

Sure EMC has its problems - but so do a lot of other apps (and even Windows), but, on the whole, it is better behaved than some and a lot less awkward than others. Try CDR-Win sometime and you'll see what I mean

Yes, I use Nero, in addition to all of my Roxio suites, and I do a lot of video editing.

You won't see any of my posts in the Nero forums, because they refuse to sponsor one. I've asked them to.

And, I needed help with Roxio's version 6, four years ago. It was, IMHO, crap software. I came to the Roxio forums for help, and I got it. I put version 6, back on the shelf, where it belonged, and got version 7.

I needed help with version 7, and I got it from these forums, and I have been trying to help folks, ever since then.

I don't know what software I would try, besides Roxio, but I am still looking.
