I think this is what layo22 is referring to. Fron version 9 trial a couple of minutes ago.
In the left clip, Edit Movie is greyed out because I haven't added and selected a movie to edit. (see the project view box.
In the right clip I've added Roxio's Transcode video, and clicked on it (selected it) in the project view box. Now my edit options have come to life.

Sorry for stepping in here. I wanted to point out that the best way to edit your video
once it is on your computer is to use the Video Wave application. The editor in My DVD is limited and has been know to be not as reliable as VideoWave. Reach all applications by using the Home Application page. (Ignore the tabs for now).
If that camera records to a disc, simply connect the camera to the computer and copy the VOB files to a folder on your computer). Use those for editing. Note that you may have to finalize the disc before you can transfer the VOB files.
