Does the Toast version of TivoTransfer (what should have been TiVo Desktop) support encoding files and moving them TO my TiVO?
I know if I download and buy VisualHub and then get the TivoDesktop software (the old method before Toast) and TivoGoBack, I can do it, but it would seem to me that the software Tivo made us PAY for would be able to do things like dual-direction transfers.
If I had known it was a "one-way only" transfer that actually uses it's own reader(rather than using Quicktime), I wouldn't have bought it. I can do most of the things I'd expect from a professional solution using multiple shareware and other paid tools, but I was hoping for an all-in-one solution.
Basically, I want to move files to and from my Tivo, playing them on my Tivo, and in Quicktime (MediaPlayer, FrontRow) on my Mac.
Thoughts?

These are my thoughts, precisely. I wanted to transfer them to the Mac and be able to burn them on dvd so I could transport them on our journeys. I think this is "fair use" and only using them for ourselves. After transferring these files and then burning them to dvd, I assumed they would play on our dvd player. Doesn't seem to be the case.
