I purchased Toast 8 to use TivoToGo with my Series 3 Tivo. I also have a Series 2 Tivo; both are connected to my wireless network.

Both the initial version of Tivo Transfer and this version (1.1.1) are seriously broken - half the time it confuses the listings on the two Tivos, so that the recordings on the Series 2 show up in the directory of what it thinks are on the Series 3. That's serious bug #1.

Serious bug #2 is even more catastrophic. I can't transfer any shows to my Mac; in some cases the transfer never even starts, and in other cases they start and then just stop after 10 or 20 MB.

The only reason I purchased Toast 8 was for Tivo Transfer. And it just doesn't work. I don't care if it's Tivo's fault or Roxios; Roxio developed the software and advertised it as being developed in partnership with Tivo. If Roxio can't get it to work they deserve to be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

Works fine for me. If you can't transfer it's your network. I transfer shows all the time with no problem.

Roxio only includes Tivo Transfer and have no control over it. If it doesn't work, Tivo needs to fix it.

My network is fine - every other application I use has no problem. My Tivos have no problem. In the past, with my Series 2, I successfully transferred shows using other software.

Tivo Transfer is broken; why otherwise does it mix up content listings ?

Roxio's selling point is that they include the Tivo functionality. If it doesn't work, it *is* Roxio's problem. Tivo Transfer is the only reason I purchased Toast. Just because Tivo may have written some or all of the Transfer program doesn't remove the obligation from Roxio to deliver software that performs as they advertise. Similarly, even if there's a problem with the Tivo box, Roxio are being deceptive if they claim that Toast as a suite allows the transfer of content from a Tivo to a Mac. It doesn't matter whose software is defective; if the total package doesn't work, Roxio is delivering a 'solution' that doen't work.

That's a very broad statement. And wrong.

Roxio codes TiVo Transfer. TiVo and Roxio made that abundantly clear at the outset of Toast 8 and TTG for the Mac.

And, considering how many of us are having issues with TiVo Transfer, and how the Windows users are not having any trouble with it, I think it's very clear that the fault is at Roxio's feet, not TiVo's. Even after the 8.0.3 update I still cannot transfer from my TiVos to any Mac in my household, but TiVo to TiVo works fine and TiVo to Windows (in Parallels, no less) is shockingly fast.

Roxio is at fault. Period.

I, personally, am not upgrading to Toast 9 because of Roxio's very poor handling of all of this (and I've used the product since Toast 4).

Roxio does not code Tivo Transfer. Tivo codes Tivo Transfer. I have no idea where you come up with your random info.

Windows users also have problems with files from the 2007 update not play in DVD players.

The fact still remains that Tivo screwed up the 2007 update which introduce the problems.

It's obviously a roxio issue. Windows users are not reporting NEARLY the amount of issues that Roxio users are.

Roxio advertises tivo compatibility. Roxio does not deliver. The ball seems to be in their court.

Even if what you say is true, Roxio advertises Toast as having the capability of handling Tivo files, and now it doesn't do so for everyone. If the fix is entirely one of Tivo's making and responsibility (and per our previous exchange, I'm still not entirely convinced of that), then Roxio needs to step up and announce that they're no longer a solution for handling Tivo files. There's a lot of us out here who bought Toast 8 entirely for this feature.

I think Roxio's silence on this issue is particularly unhelpful, and is not helping their reputation in the minds of a lot of frustrated users. Look back through my posts - I've tried to defend Roxio from the more outlandish accusations, but I'm beginning to wonder if my trust in them has been misplaced.
