I bought Roxio 9 Suite. The product would not install. Since I do hardware / software support for a living I checked all possible issues that might cause the problem outside of the CDs just being damaged. Nothing worked so I put in a ticket with Roxio support. They sent me back a procedure which sometimes works to install old (Pre 98) products but I tried the instruction twice anyway. I let Roxio know their procedure didn't work. Seven months later I still didn't get a reply so I decided to copy all of the files on both CDs one by one to a hard drive. It's well known in the hardware repair world that there is the possibility that one out of 10 tries at copying a file may be successful even when the CD is damaged. Three hours later I finally got the final file copied. The install from the copied files on the hard drive worked find. As any hardware technician knows this means the CDs are damaged (probably the CDFS sector). I told Roxio about this and they said if I could copy anything off the CD that proved the CD was ok. They then disconnected the chat. The correct thing would have been for Roxio to ask me to send them the damaged disks and after seeing that they won't install sending me replacement CDs. Any ideas

Why not burn a backup from the folder on the hard drive that you used to finally install the program? Then send Roxio the damaged disc and a nasty letter!

go back to the store you bought Creator 9 and exchange for a new CD.

It took him 7 months to get here!

Store probably doesn’t carry V9 anymore.

I think cd had a better solution…

missed the 7 months part.

could probably clean the disc and try it on a different computer. and of course what Jack suggested.

Hi Bollingg,

While I understand your frustration, we will not be able to replace the discs you have since we no longer sell EMC 9. Since you are able to copy the content of both discs to the hard drive, cdanteek's suggestion would be the best solution.

Also, We never heard back from you after we replied the ticket in April 2007 until you updated the ticket again in December 2007. Usually when the tickets are not updated after our response, it is assumed that issue is resolved with the suggestion in the reply and the tickets will be closed after a week.
